When heart and prostate symptoms combine.
With benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), there might be additional prostatitis. This phenomenon can also cause retention of urine and swelling of the prostate gland, which can lead to inflammation. If this is a condition that applies to you, you can read an article on prostatitis.
We expect an enlarged prostate in most elderly men, where prostate size can reach the size of a grapefruit. The normal size of the prostate resembles a walnut in a young man, and with age, it slowly increases to the size of a lemon. It should remain at this size.
One of the homeopathic remedies used for an enlarged prostate is Digitalis– homeopathic digitalis. Many of you may recognize Digitalis as a heart remedy or a heart-supporting herb. Digitalis is toxic (as a crude herb) and should be usedonly homeopathically. A derivative of digitalis, digoxin is used as a treatment for various heart conditions including atrial fibrillation, and heart failure.
In fact, homeopathic Digitalis will help men who have both an enlarged prostate and heart issues. This is a strong indication to use this remedy when cardiac patients develop prostate issues.
Digitalis will be indicated when there is a strong desire to urinate, but urine will not pass easily, making the patient walk around in distress, and this walking will renew the desire to urinate.
There will be dribbling of urine on account of an enlarged prostate blocking urine flow. We do not expect a full and uninterrupted stream of urine. That retention of urine will give the patient a feeling of fullness even after urination. Most of the time, however, the efforts to urinate are continuous and fruitless.
This straining causes throbbing pain in the neck of the bladder.
Urine will be pale, may be a little cloudy, or may even be a little smoky.
A frequent desire to urinate will bring a desire to defecate at the same time. For sure, it is an unpleasant situation for the patient. The amount of stool in comparison to the amount of urine is similar. There will be a very small amount of stool, and there will not be any relief when passing it.
This continued need to urinate without bringing the patient any relief is very discouraging and tiresome to the patient. My hope is that homeopathic Digitalis brings relief and prompt recovery.
Please consult your doctor before using homeopathy.
